🌸 March Is Here… and It’s Moving Fast! 🌸

February really flew by! We loved celebrating African American trailblazers throughout the month. Our culminating assembly was a highlight, as students proudly showcased the influential figures they studied during Module 3 of Arts and Letters. We are so proud of the learning and leadership they demonstrated.

March will be just as busy, so please mark your calendars:
📅 Tuesday, March 3 – Teacher Workday (No School)
Friday, March 6 – Early Dismissal (12:00 PM)
Sunday, March 8 – Spring Forward (Don’t forget to set those clocks!)
🌼 March 9–13 – Spring Break

We will miss our Eagles during Spring Break and look forward to welcoming everyone back on March 16th!

Arts & Letters!!

In Module 3 of Arts & Letters, students in grades 2–5 are building strong reading, writing, and thinking skills by exploring meaningful texts and sharing their ideas about what they read.
Throughout the module, students:
  • Read engaging stories and informational texts
  • Talk about characters, ideas, and important details
  • Practice using evidence from the text to explain their thinking
  • Learn new vocabulary and strengthen reading comprehension
Across the three units, students grow more confident in:
  • Understanding grade-level texts
  • Sharing ideas during class discussions
  • Writing clear responses about what they read
By the end of Module 3, students are better prepared to think critically, express their ideas clearly, and connect what they read to the world around them. These skills help set the foundation for future learning across all subjects.

To keep the learning going beyond the classroom, here are some grade-level tips for families to support and extend learning at home:

Positivity Project (P2) - Love of Learning

Dear Families,

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Love of Learning. Love of learning means enjoying the process of learning new things, whether in school or on your own.

People with a love of learning are motivated because they find joy in learning itself, not just for rewards like grades or prizes. They are driven by the excitement of discovering and mastering new skills.

Developing a love of learning is important for students because it helps them stay motivated and engaged. It can also improve their mental and physical well-being as they take pride in overcoming challenges and growing.

To practice and encourage the character strength of Love of Learning at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.

Thank you for your support!

Counselors Corner

Happy National Counselors Week

💙Our Counselors Say...💙

Dear Irvin Families,

As school counselors we want to take a moment to share how we support students through age-appropriate learning and to highlight an exciting event coming up soon.

Age-Appropriate Digital Safety
We often talk with students about making safe and responsible choices online. Families play a key role in helping children navigate technology in age-appropriate ways. We encourage parents and caregivers to regularly monitor apps, games, and social media use, set clear screen-time limits, and have ongoing conversations about online behavior, privacy, and digital kindness. What children see and experience online can impact their emotional well-being, peer relationships, and learning. Modeling healthy technology habits and keeping communication open can help students build strong digital citizenship skills.

Exciting News – Apply Now For Pre-K Program! 🎉

The application for 26-27 NCPK is now open.

This is a wonderful opportunity for families to give their child a strong start in a nurturing and engaging environment. 💛

Please help us spread the word! Families can call the number listed on the flyer below to check eligibility.

Let’s work together to fill this classroom with future Eagles! 🦅
