Eagles Nest News

WM Irvin Elementary

🦅 Irvin Eagles Soar Into a Busy December!💙

We hope all our families had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! Believe it or not, Winter Break is just around the corner—December 22nd through January 2nd—and these next three weeks are going to be full of learning, excitement, and celebration!

Our 3rd–5th graders will be taking their 2nd Quarter Benchmark assessments, and our K–3 students will complete their Amplify/DIBELS assessments. These assessments are an important part of tracking student growth, so we ask that students be present and ready to shine! Please try to schedule appointments in the afternoons once testing has wrapped up. If your child will be absent, late, or leaving early, please contact their teacher so we can plan a make-up session.

We also have fun events on the horizon, including our PBIS and Encore Celebrations—always a student favorite! And don’t forget: PTO Parents’ Night Out is December 12th from 3:00–6:30 PM. It’s going to be a fantastic month at Irvin!

It’s hard to believe the holidays are right around the corner! I’m sharing some holiday resources for families who may want to take advantage of community support opportunities this season.
If there’s ever anything I can assist with, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Positivity Project (P2) - Kindness

Dear Families,

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Kindness. Kindness means being generous to others, never being too busy to help out, and you enjoy doing good deeds for other people.

Kindness is based on the belief that everyone deserves care, attention, and compassion. Kind people think about others' needs and feelings and take action to help. They are selfless, helping others because it's the right thing to do, not for any personal gain.

People who are kind have a strong sense of duty to care for others. Their acts of kindness inspire more kindness in return.

To practice and encourage the character strength of kindness at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.

Thank you for your support!
