As we head into cold and flu season, there are a few simple steps families can take to help keep our Eagles healthy:
  • Encourage students to cover their coughs and sneeze into a tissue
  • Remind students to wash their hands frequently

Arts & Letters!!

In Module 3 of Arts & Letters, students in grades 2–5 are building strong reading, writing, and thinking skills by exploring meaningful texts and sharing their ideas about what they read.
Throughout the module, students:
  • Read engaging stories and informational texts
  • Talk about characters, ideas, and important details
  • Practice using evidence from the text to explain their thinking
  • Learn new vocabulary and strengthen reading comprehension
Across the three units, students grow more confident in:
  • Understanding grade-level texts
  • Sharing ideas during class discussions
  • Writing clear responses about what they read
By the end of Module 3, students are better prepared to think critically, express their ideas clearly, and connect what they read to the world around them. These skills help set the foundation for future learning across all subjects.

To keep the learning going beyond the classroom, here are some grade-level tips for families to support and extend learning at home:

STEM News:

Our STEM students have been busy exploring hands-on learning across grade levels. Fifth graders are building eco-columns to investigate how ecosystems work and how living and nonliving components interact. Kindergarteners are practicing early measurement skills by weighing objects to help keep Santa’s sleigh perfectly balanced. In Robotics, students are applying their coding knowledge to complete a variety of real-world challenges. First graders are strengthening their understanding of measurement by comparing objects using nonstandard tools such as cubes and other math manipulatives. It has been an exciting week of creativity, problem-solving, and discovery in STEM.

Fifth-grade families! Don’t forget about the CCS Program Choice opportunities for next school year! Click here to apply before December 14th!

Positivity Project (P2) - Self-Control

Dear Families,

This week, our school will focus on the character strength of Self-Control. Self-control means having the ability to control your emotions and behaviors. You think before you act.

Having self-control helps people stay calm during tough times and avoid impulsive actions. It doesn’t mean you don’t have thoughts or feelings; it means you can manage them.

When working or gathering in groups, self-control is shown through “self-monitoring.” This means being honest about what works and what doesn’t. Group members adjust their roles to help the group succeed.

To practice and encourage the character strength of self-control at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.

Thank you for your continued support!
