Positive Referrals

🦃 A Busy Week at Irvin… and an Exciting Two Days Ahead!💙

Last week was full of activity and excitement at W.M. Irvin—and we’re heading into another busy two days before the holiday break!

We loved welcoming the Mobile Dairy Classroom, where Ms. Maple the cow helped teach our students all about dairy farms. A big thank-you to SouthLand Dairy Farmers for bringing this hands-on learning experience to our campus! 🐄💙

We also had a blast at PTO Skate Night, and we continued celebrating our students with positive referrals. Our Eagles are working hard and showing leadership every day!

This week, we also recognized the people who help keep our students safe on the way to and from school—our incredible bus drivers. A special shoutout to Mr. Kurt for all he does to ensure safety and care for our students. 🚌💛

As we head into the holiday, we hope all our families enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving Break, filled with rest, joy, and time spent with the people who matter most.

We can’t wait to welcome our Eagles back on Monday, December 1st! 🦅

Parents, please be sure to check the Upcoming Dates section for assessments and field trips happening in the first days of December.

Positivity Project (P2) - Gratitude

Dear Families,

Over these next two weeks, our school community will focus on the character strength of Gratitude. Gratitude means being aware of and grateful for good things that happen.

Gratitude is about feeling and showing thankfulness. It helps us see the good in others and in the world. People with gratitude are ready to appreciate and return kindness. Expert Robert Emmons says gratitude strengthens relationships because it makes us recognize how others support us.

Out of all 24 character strengths, gratitude is the single best predictor of individual well-being. It is linked to more energy, empathy, happiness, and optimism. The good news is that gratitude can be practiced and strengthened like a muscle. The more we practice it, the more benefits we get.

To practice and encourage this strength at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.

Thank you for your support!
