🦅 1st Quarter Parent-Teacher Conferences

It’s time to connect, reflect, and plan for your child’s success! 1st Quarter Parent-Teacher Conferences will be scheduled between September 21 and October 23.

Parents, please watch for a ParentSquare message from your child’s teacher with information on how to sign up for a conference.

During conferences, teachers will share Beginning-of-Year (BOY) assessment data, discuss your child’s progress and learning, and share next steps for continued growth. This is a wonderful opportunity to partner with your child’s teacher, ask questions, celebrate successes, and work together to support your Eagle’s learning journey.

💙💛 Please don’t miss this important opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher. Together, we can help our Eagles SOAR! 🦅

STEM In Action

STEM @ W.M Irvin

It has been a busy and exciting week in STEM at W. M. Irvin!  Our Kindergarten and Second Grade students welcomed a special guest speaker, Mr. Brandon Lawson, a meteorologist from Queen City News! Students learned more about weather, forecasting, and what it is like to work as a meteorologist.

Third Grade students put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test with a Breakout EDU challenge! Students used multiplication and reading skills to solve clues, crack lock codes, and break into locked boxes. It was a fun way to combine academic skills with critical thinking, collaboration, and perseverance!

We love seeing our students learn, explore, and experience STEM in action!

Student Wellness

Meet Our School Counselors!

Irvin Families,

During Bully Prevention Month, our K–5 school counselors will be working with students in their classrooms to build awareness around kindness, respect, and safe relationships with peers.
Students will learn the difference between mean behavior, conflict, and bullying, including that under North Carolina law, bullying/harassing behavior involves a pattern of behavior that causes fear of harm or creates a hostile environment that substantially interferes with a student’s educational experience.

We will also practice ways students can respond appropriately, seek help, include others, and be an upstander when they see someone being treated unfairly.

We will have a bully prevention spirit week coming the week of October 19th so be on the lookout for a flyer coming soon!

As always, please use this link to fill out if you would like us to see your student for any support!

Thank you!
Mrs. Carey and Ms. Delgado

🌟 Positivity Project: Spiral Review Week 1

Dear Families,

This week, our Eagles will revisit several character strengths they have learned through the Positivity Project. Spiral Review gives students a chance to strengthen their understanding, make connections, and practice these skills in everyday situations.

We’ll focus on Curiosity, Forgiveness, Open-Mindedness, Perspective, and the Other People Mindset: Being Present. Throughout the week, students will be encouraged to ask questions, let go of frustration, listen to different viewpoints, see situations from another perspective, and give others their full attention.

💙💛 Try it at home: Ask your child which strength they practiced that day and how they can use it with family, friends, or classmates.
This week’s reminder: Strong character grows through practice!
