Eagles Nest News

WM Irvin Elementary

💙💛We’re Ready to SOAR!💙💛

As our Beginning-of-Year (BOY) assessments come to a close, the exciting work ahead is just beginning! Our teachers have been analyzing student data to better understand where each Eagle is today and are using what they’ve learned to intentionally build learning environments that meet the needs of every student.
We’re excited to turn data into action, create meaningful learning experiences, and help every Eagle continue to grow and SOAR! 🚀📚
Families, don’t forget to create your Canvas Parent Account! This is a great way to stay connected to your child’s learning and support continued learning at home. 🏠💙💛

Our Student Wellness Panorama Survey opens on September 14th. Parents, please see the linked letters below for additional information about the survey and what to expect.

The CHA Mobile Dental Clinic will be on campus September 14th–17th, and we’ll wrap up the week with our PTO Meeting on September 17th at 5:30 PM.

It’s going to be a great week ! 🦅💙💛

It was great to see all the families who attended WM Irvin's Title I Curriculum Night. I hope you got to get a glimpse of the great things going on at Irvin, as well as learn about the learning experiences our teachers are creating for your children.

As promised, please find a link to the presentation reviewed during the Title I Curriculum Night, the Title I Open Meeting Handout, the Parent Engagement Plan Compact, and the Parents' Right to Know letter.

Parent Participation vs. Volunteering

Parent Participation: Parents may participate in school activities that are open to all parents without a background check. Please contact your child’s teacher or school administration for available opportunities.

Volunteering: Parents, family members, and community members serving as school volunteers must complete a background check. This includes roles such as field trip chaperones, classroom volunteers, and enrichment support.

To volunteer with Cabarrus County Schools:

Meet our Counselors

Meet Our School Counselors!

We are excited to support the students and families of W.M. Irvin Elementary this school year! Ms. Delgado will serve as the school counselor for Kindergarten–2nd Grade, and Mrs. Carey will serve as the school counselor for 3rd–5th Grade. Together, we provide ASCA-aligned school counseling services through classroom guidance lessons, brief solution-focused individual counseling, small-group counseling, student goal-setting and skill development, and support with students’ academic, social/emotional, and career development. We also serve as 504 Coordinators, helping ensure eligible students receive the appropriate accommodations and supports needed to access and succeed in their education. Our goal is to help every Irvin Eagle feel safe, supported, connected, and ready to learn! 🦅💙 Attached is a form if you would like any of the mentioned services! https://forms.gle/352BD7A72LccPxqZ8

Positivity Project - Other People Mindset (OPM) of Being present and giving others my attention

Dear Families,

Next week, our school community will focus on the Other People Mindset of Being present and giving others my attention. This means when we are with other people, we are present and give them our full attention.
In today's world, it's easy to get distracted by phone calls, messages, and social media. These distractions can pull us away from what's most important — our relationships with other people.

Just as plants need sunlight to grow, our relationships need attention. If we don’t give our full attention when we are with our family, friends, and even colleagues, we can't build strong relationships. It’s crucial to put down our phones and tablets and really listen when others are talking. Positive relationships are the foundation of a positive culture, and we can’t build positive relationships without attention.

To practice and encourage the Other People Mindset of being present and giving others our attention, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.

Thank you for your support!
