💙💛 🦅 “Soaring to the Finish Line!”🦅💙💛

🎉 Eagles Soaring Through a Fun-Filled Week! 🦅
It was a busy and exciting week at W.M. Irvin! Our Eagles had an amazing time during Field Day 🏃‍♂️☀️ and were thrilled by a surprise visit from the Chick-fil-A Cow 🐄🎈. We also wrapped up the 4th quarter with our PBIS Glow Party ✨🕺—students were dancing, laughing, and truly celebrating what it means to SOAR at Irvin!

🌟 Celebrations & Shoutouts 👏
We took time to recognize our Eagles who earned positive referrals 🌟 and proudly celebrated our outstanding leader, Dr. Wells 👏🎉. We are so grateful for his dedication and commitment to our school and community 💙. Congratulations to our Golden Eagles: Ms. Taylor, Ms. Vehar and Ms. Mayfield. Be sure to check out photos 📸 in this newsletter and on our social media pages!

🚍 Transportation Update for 2026–2027
If you have not yet completed the Transportation Ridership Form 📝, please check your child’s folder 🎒 for a paper copy. Completed forms must be returned to school.
Without a form on file ❗, your child will not have bus transportation at the start of the school year, and setting up transportation could take 10 or more days ⏳.

🍎 Lunch Visit Reminder: Plan Ahead!
As we head into the final stretch of the school year 🎉, please be sure to reach out to your child’s teacher ahead of time if you plan to join them for lunch 🍽️. Schedules ⏳ and locations 📍 may change due to testing 📝 and end-of-year activities.

Just a quick heads-up ⚠️—there will be no lunch visitors during the final week of school 🚫. Thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly during this busy time! 💙

Let’s keep the momentum going and finish the year strong, Eagles! 💙💛

📝 End-of-Year Testing Updates

Looking ahead, we will begin End-of-Grade (EOG) testing this week. Parents, please help us remind your children that they have been learning this material all school year—this is their time to shine! Also students will need headphones for testing. Please send in a pair of headphones with your child. They must be able to be plugged into the laptop. Testing will begin each day at 8:40 AM (or slightly later if buses are delayed). It is very important that students arrive on time so they can eat breakfast and begin testing with their class. Students who arrive after 8:40 AM will not be able to test with their class.

If your child will be late or absent, please contact their teacher so we can arrange a makeup session. For retesting, families who previously opted in will be notified of their child’s retest date. If you did not opt in but would like your child to retest, please reach out to your child’s teacher to provide permission.

EOG Testing Schedule: May 7th - 20th
English Language Arts (Reading) – grades 3-5: Thursday, May 7th
Mathematics – grades 3-5: Tuesday, May 12th

As the weather is warming up, we would like to encourage you to get your children outside to explore nature like a scientist! Watch the flowers bloom, grow a garden, monitor the changes in the world around you, create a bird feeder, etc.

Recently our students have been seen measuring water outside with the garden, learning with new robots, becoming artists, and blasting off rockets.

In AIG fourth graders have been solving math problems with robots, fifth graders filmed commercials for their inventions, and third graders made mosaic and Mondrian art with fractional pieces.

Positivity Project (P2) - Enthusiasm

Dear Families,

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Enthusiasm. Enthusiasm means approaching life with energy and excitement, and it helps bring joy to those around us.

When people are enthusiastic, they show excitement about tasks, making it easier for them and others to stay involved. Enthusiastic people often inspire others, bringing fresh ideas and helping groups work better together.

Enthusiasm is contagious! It can lead to more success and happiness for both individuals and groups. When one person shows enthusiasm, it can encourage others to feel more energized and motivated, too.

To practice and encourage the character strength of enthusiasm at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.

Thank you for your support!
