🌟 What a Fun-Filled Week at W.M. Irvin!

We wrapped up the week with one of our favorite traditions — our annual Trunk or Teach event — and it was a huge success! 🎃

We loved seeing all the amazing, creative costumes from our students and families. You never fail to impress us! The biggest surprise of the night? Dr. Wells kissed a rooster! 🐔 It definitely did not disappoint. Thank you, Dr. Wells, for always being such a great sport and bringing so much laughter and school spirit to Irvin!

👮‍♀️ Community Helpers Visit First Grade
The week started off with excitement as our 1st graders met real Community Helpers! It was a hands-on learning experience filled with fun, curiosity, and inspiration.
A huge thank you to all the community helpers who visited and shared how they serve and protect our community — you made learning come alive for our students!

🦅 Celebrating Our SOARing Eagles
One of our favorite parts of the week was celebrating students with positive referrals! We are so proud of our Eagles for demonstrating leadership, kindness, and responsibility each and every day.
Keep SOARing high, Eagles — we see you and we’re proud of you! 💙💛

🚌 Looking Ahead
This week will be full of learning and exploration, including exciting field trips for our Kindergarten and 4th Grade students! We can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things they’ll discover.

💙A Note from Our School Social Worker, Ms. Randle💙
It’s hard to believe the holidays are right around the corner! I’m sharing some holiday resources for families who may want to take advantage of community support opportunities this season.
If there’s ever anything I can assist with, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

STEM News: Let's Partner Up!

Real-World Learning in Our STEM School
At our STEM School, learning goes beyond the classroom! Students make real-world connections every day through hands-on experiences and community partnerships. Our 5th graders recently met with our school nurse to learn how the human body works during their science unit, while Kindergarteners are exploring community helpers through play-based learning centers. Across all grade levels, students take meaningful field trips, as well as connect famous people and their careers to our Positivity Project character traits. These experiences help students see how what they learn in school applies to the world around them!

Positivity Project (P2) - OPM: My Words and Actions Affect Others

Dear Families,

This week, our school community will focus on the Other People Mindset of Knowing That My Words and Actions Affect Others, which means having an awareness that everything that we say and do can affect others — and our relationships with them.

Whether we speak, email, text, or post, our words and actions can have a positive or negative effect. The words and actions we choose can lift others up or bring them down, and they also impact us. When we all think carefully about our words and actions and show respect and care for those around us, we create a happier and healthier community.

To practice and encourage this Other People Mindset at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.

Thank you for your support!
